Human Rights Watch is calling upon the new Greek government to address longstanding human rights concerns.  The rights group implores Prime Minister Tsipras’ anti-austerity Syriza party to uphold its campaign promises and remedy long standing human rights violations in the country.  Human Rights Watch has identified the following areas which need to be addressed by the Syriza government: “combating racist and xenophobic violence, reforming police practices and ensuring accountability for police abuse, and remedying serious human rights violations related to migration and asylum.”
