Amnesty International reports that the government of Pakistan has imposed a ban on a TV channel critical of the government.   The privately owned network, ARY TV, has been suspended for 15 days.  This decision by the Pakistan regulatory officials comes after the station was accused of “maligning” the judiciary.  This isn’t the first instance this year of Pakistan’s government shutting a television station who reported unfavourable stories.  In June, the government suspended another network, Geo TV, after it accused senior intelligence officials of attempting to arrange the murder of one of its reporters.
