Human Rights Watch, in concert with more than two dozen organizations, have called for the Assad regime in Syria to release noted human rights lawyer Khalil Ma’touq on the second anniversary of his disappearance.   It is believed that Ma’touq and a colleague were detained at a government checkpoint on Oct 2, 2012, and while the regime will not confirm Ma’touq’s arrest, reports indicate that he is in custody and in extremely poor health.
