  • A judge of Uganda’s High Court ordered the Rolling Stone newspaper (no relation to the US magazine) to stop publishing the names and photos of Ugandans they identified as gay after some of those identified were beaten. Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda, where last year a bill was introduced to Parliament which would have made homosexuality punishable by the death penalty. [AFP]
  • A multi-partisan bill will be introduced to Israel’s Parliament which would severely limit the ability of the High Court of Justice (Israel’s highest court) to remedy human rights infringements. The bill would prevent the Court from intervening where such intervention would cost over 5.5NIS ($1.5CAD) or where the wrong to be remedied is a matter of policy. [Ha’aretz]
